Bringing Light: The Art of Illumination

One might say that without light art may
not exist and
that capturing light may be the holy grail
of the artist.

Juror's Statement:
First of all, I would like to thank Artel for
asking me to be a juror for 2007.
This has
been both an enlightening and challenging experience.
The approach of selecting work for "Bringing Light" was
multilayered in a way
that I kept the process pertinent to the underlying
driving force behind the
ideology. Does it contain light? Is it illuminated? Is
it illuminating?
Enlightening spiritually, existentially, or
metaphysically?
These questions were answered in thunderous reclaim. I
was illuminated.
I was enlightened. I was metaphysically altered to
another state of
consciousness.
Keep bringing the light. There will always be a darkened
mass that
unknowingly yearns for enlightenment.
