Juror's Statement It’s always a daunting task to choose a show like this. Ha! Based on the inflection, the meaning of this simple word runs the gamut from humorous to quizzical, from sarcastic to bland. In a few cases, the “H” could’ve been replaced with a “D”, as the dada object in all its simplicity once again raised the question, “What is art?” Ultimately, the works I chose were based on the artist’s thematic idea and their ability to carry out that idea through a specific visual language. I was impressed with the number of outstanding works, both that made it in to the show, and also, ones that had to be cut. There were a number of pieces that were excellent technically, but which I found difficult to fit within the theme. Likewise, there were pieces that fit thematically, but were cut in the end due to technical merit or room constraints.
